The 'F' word: Is faking it ever okay?

THIS might take some of you by surprise (judging by my countless diamond rings and golden medallions I wear each day) but I am not a millionaire. Shocking I know, but I am in fact an extremely average 21 year old student that unfortunately has an irrational obsession with shoes of the designer nature. Growing up I've always been taught to the idea that if I can't afford it, I can't have it, so for me adding a pair of shoes to a credit card (that I refuse to have) or spending the equivalent of three months rent on anything other than necessities (read: burgers) is a big no-no.

So let's all address the elephant in the room here. These shoes? 110% not Stella McCartney, no matter how much I'd like to think they are. I toyed with the idea once upon a time, but no matter how much I love a pair of shoes I can't ever justify spending that much on something that simply stops my feet getting dirty. Because that's all they are, right? Apart from turning me into an instant goddess that one time I tried the Lugs on in Libertys (or so I'd like to think) the knock-offs are doing almost everything the real-deal shoes did for me. I'm probably losing some serious blogger points for this, but there we go.

Anyway, regardless of whether you own one thousand or one single pair of shoes, I'm curious to know what you think about the faux/fo' real fashion debate. Leave your opinions in the comments below. And before you ask, yes I did spill something all over this outfit. There's a reason I wear all-black black you know..

At the Ulanka Flagship store opening

THIS time last week I was trying on shoes and pigging out with the likes of Carrie, Tamara and Andreea whilst at Ulanka's first UK  flagship opening on 153 Oxford St. To say I fell head over heels (sorry, had to) would be an understatement. In the cold, rainy streets of London the (warm!) Spanish retailer stood out from miles away - or maybe that was just the Mediterranean food that that guided me. Either way, I couldn't wait to step inside.

Offering well-known labels and personal favourites such as Vans, Converse and Birkenstock, Ulanka also sells a selection of shoes exclusive to their label. If you havn't already taken a sneak peak at my new shoes in my latest outfit, here's a little spoiler for you: I came home with the Natural Sur zebra flats. Ya rly. Me. In espadrilles. It's now a thing apparently. And trust me, I'll be coming back for the leopard pair (and about fourteen other pairs of shoes) soon enough. See you there?

What's in the April Love Me Beauty box

Beauty

IT terrifies me to think that we're already over a third of the way through 2014. I mean, really? The only plus side about time passing so quickly is having the Love Me Beauty box come through my door every month. Oh I know how to live.

April's box - just like all of the other boxes I've been sent - doesn't disappoint. I've been working on a little self/life makeover lately (when do I not say that?) so the fact that this box is full to the brim with hair care and oils makes me a very happy girl. I decided to choose Menu 3 which included a full-sized cleansing shampoo by Neal & Wolf (also known as the nicest smelling stuff ever), a full-sized moisturising oil and a nail polish in peachy orange shade. Say goodbye to the nude nails my friends, things are about to get wild.

Have you ever tried a monthly beauty box?

How I styled the 'Sports Luxe' Edit with John Lewis

WHEN you're approached by John Lewis to style an outfit based on their latest Sports Luxe Edit, the outcome of the look is pretty obvious, for me anyway. I'm talking about my (almost) trademark sweats and vest combination that - at least in my mind - never seems to get old. Paired with the usual suspects (and with the addition of some new 'drilles) thrown over the shoulders and around the waist I guess you could say this is my idea of spring-meets-sport essemble. All that's missing is the personal trainer..although I suppose I have my boyfriend for that one. Anyone notice his name in the credits above? Bois got skillz.

How I spend my day in the country

THERE really is no place like home - which is where I'll be for the next two weeks. I've had my first proper night's sleep in months (no thanks to my neighbours back in London) and woke up to a bed filled with cats. My own, of course - although all are welcome.

This afternoon I've decided to leave my desk for a bit of fresh Cornish air, soon to be followed by a trip to le boyfriend's (who I haven't seen for nearly a month!) and a big all you can eat Chinese meal with his family. Not a bad day at all if you ask me. I wish I had something overly interesting and groundbreaking to say in this blog post, but since I've been asleep for the past eighteen hours not much has really happened. Instead, I'll leave you with yet another outfit featuring me in a dress. Until next time!
